OK, So I Lied...

...this changing sites stuff isn't really that easy.  You WILL have to update your reader subscription with the new address, I'm so super sorry!

I've tried to make it as easy as possible...on the new site, there's a Subscribe to the Feed orange button that will place all updates in your Google Reader (or other reader of your choice) and I added the Google Friend Connect (how you follow people) button onto my sidebar at the new site.  Clicking onto either one of those will get your readers re-directed to the new site.

I'll pop in over here a few times in the next few weeks, dropping little reminders for you to update things...but come on over here and check out the new site!  Click on one of those buttons while you're there...since you're there, you know?

Thanks - and sorry for the trouble!

A New Home...

I might have mentioned it a time or two in passing, but this little blog is making it's big move today.  I've loved being A Mother...Again, but I feel like the time has come to make this blog more.  Not different, just more.

Being A Mother...Again was perfect while I was pregnant.  And it was perfect when I was learning the ropes of motherhood again - refreshing my memory so to speak.  But now?  Now I feel like there's more to me than being a Mom.  I am a Mom, nothing will stop that and nothing can change that...but I'm more too.  And as I've dabbled a bit in the design of this blog, I'm constantly frustrated with the limitations that Blogger has...therefore, having my own website and using Wordpress seems to be the best answer for me.

I know that I'm not a niche blogger - I talk about anything and everything that catches my attention...and I hope that you like that.  If you do, then you'll experience no change as I make this move.  There's not going to be anything different around here...other than a new title.  And a new web address.  And of course there's a new layout/design...that's one of my favorite parts about making this move to Wordpress!  I'm still learning the ropes over there, so the site isn't 100% finished yet, but it's getting there and I just couldn't wait any longer to share it all with you!

Today marks the first day that I'm officially launching Little Bitty Things.  Some of my long-time readers (from A Bride...Again) probably recognize that name, as it's the name of my Etsy store.  No, I haven't reopened it...but I plan to one of these days - maybe after Jax is a little bit older.  Right now my hands are pretty full as it is...but I love that name (for lots of reasons) and decided that it was the perfect name for my new blog.  After today, you can find me over there.

If I've done everything right (I'm crossing my fingers and toes that I have!) if you're a current follower/subscriber you won't even notice a difference unless you click out of your Reader.  If I haven't done everything right (that's always a possibility) then you might have to re-direct your Reader to my new home.  If you need to find me, here's the new web address:

http://www.littlebittythingsblog.com/

I hope to see you there!  It's still the same blog, same writer, same stories...just a different name and a new look.  Have a great Tuesday, and I'll see you over there!

101 in 1001

I'm SO excited to post this!  I saw this sort of thing for the first time this year (what rock have I been hiding under?!?!) and got more excited with every blogger's list that I read.  I was super excited to come up with my own list, which you can find here.

I plan on trying to post about some of the items that I'm able to check off of my list as I complete them, so look forward to hearing more about this.  I'm joining in this with Emily - come on over and join with us!  Don't worry a bit about being a few days behind...more is merrier!!

It took me longer to come up with this list than I had thought that it would take.  There are some things on there that are easy things to "check off" and some that will be more of a challenge to accomplish.  I'm hoping that having a good mixture of easy/hard items is what will make this interesting and attainable...I'm making my list a seperate page on my blog, so feel free to click in and check on my progress at any time!  I can't wait to start making things bold as I complete them!

Birth Announcements – And a Prize!

If you’ve been reading along for a while now, you might have clued in on the fact that I’m a tad bit indecisive. Just a smidge. LOL! (I know that my Mom is laughing pretty hard on that one…) I realized the other day that I’ve put off ordering birth announcements for Jax. I know that you get some leeway on doing this, as the life of a newborn parent is somewhat hectic and slightly sleep-deprived. Most people understand. Even so, I’d really like to have these at least ordered before he turns two months old…which is this week! Eeeekk!!!

So I’m trying to get on the ball and get this project taken care of. There’s no better place, in my opinion, to order prints and project than using Shutterfly. It’s simple, easy process to upload your pictures and whether you’re ordering prints or projects, they have it all in one place for you. So what’s the problem, you’re asking me???

Their selection is too good! I was expecting to like maybe two or three card/announcement designs, not 15 of them! Seriously, I went onto another site to check out their announcement options and there were only two or three designs that jumped out at me. But on the Shutterfly site, I found many, many designs that I like and now I can’t choose! They’re all too cute!

Check out my top favorites - I could go with something timeless and classic:
Or I could go with something a little more fun and contemporary/popular:
I just can’t choose! And before you even ask me, no I haven’t let Brent pick any out yet…I figured that I’d narrow it down to two or three choices and then insert my own pictures and stats and THEN show them to him and let him help me pick the winner. That’s the plan anyway…

So here’s where the PRIZE comes in…Shutterfly is giving me 10 free cards to offer as a giveaway on my blog for you, my dear readers! Isn’t that the coolest?!?!? Maybe you don’t need birth announcements…they also do photo books, other photo gifts, and of course, other occasional photo cards. The holidays are FAST approaching and maybe you need to send out some Halloween invitations or Christmas wishes…you can do all of that (and more) over at Shutterfly.

So here’s the deal on how you can enter to win the 10 free cards from Shutterfly:

Comment on my blog below and tell me which cards of the ones that I picked you liked best. I’d like a first and second choice…and third if you’re indecisive like me! Just leave your comment below, and your name will automatically be entered into the drawing for the giveaway. Only one entry per comment, and you MUST leave your name (obviously) so no anonymous votes will be counted…sorry!

As an added bonus, if you link back to this post from your own blog inviting YOUR readers to enter the contest as well, and send me an email telling me that you did it with your blog address (click the "Email Me" link in the upper right corner), then I’ll add your name in the drawing TWO more times!!!

That’s THREE chances to win!

I’ll keep it open until Thursday, September 23rd at 9pm - you must comment with your choices or send me the email with your link back to my post before that time to be entered into the drawing. I’ll announce the winner Friday morning in my regular post.

Remember, the promo code that you’ll be given to use for your FREE cards doesn’t have to be used for baby announcements. Shutterfly offers photo cards for ALL occasions: birthdays, thank you cards, party invitations, and holiday cards…use it for whatever you need!

So get those comments going – you know that I need help making this decision! Good luck to you all!!

STOP the Presses!

I have TWO very important announcements to make…I know that you’re all just on the edge of your seat reading at your computer desk at home…because I know that you don’t surf the web at work! LOL!

I’ve gotten a couple of questions about Ziggy’s real name…and I wasn’t really sure how to address them yet. So, even though we decided on his name a few weeks ago, I took a few days to think about things before deciding how I wanted to handle it all. You see, the dilemma comes from B’s initial reaction to me starting to blog back when we were first engaged.

On the one hand, blogging provided me with an outlet and sounding board (other than him!) on all wedding-related decisions…which he appreciated. On the other hand, having people know our names and where we lived and all was sort of creepy to the both of us. But after more than a year of blogging and having this outlet, B realizes how important it is to me. Not only to my sanity, but to me overall. So when I questioned him about whether he would want me to release Ziggy’s name on this blog or let him remain Ziggy forever in blogdom…he was quick to say that he didn’t have a preference.

This changed some things for me…I mean, how do I tell you one of our names without releasing ALL of them? Does that make sense? Here you would know Ziggy’s real name, but I would still just be S? Nope, that doesn’t work for me…so I’d like to introduce our little family…and this isn’t shocking for most of my readers, since mainly you’re family and friends that know us anyway! But bear with me.

Say hello to Sandy and Brent!
And we’re only slightly cuter and more adorable than our kiddos, Tanner and Jenna…
(Yes, those are old pictures, but I can’t find my newer ones…maybe because I didn’t upload them anywhere?)

Even though I can’t actually introduce you to little baby boy yet…other than putting our sonograms back on here…please allow me to introduce:

Jaxon Paul
Whew! That was a big one. Picking out a name for a baby is usually hard for most people…I mean, what if they hate it? Or they’re not really a Suzie? Or Joseph? What do you do if your child wants to change his/her name at a young age? (Don’t laugh, my BIL actually changed his name at 4 years old. Not because of adoption or anything. He changed his first name!) I got lucky with Jenna…there is no other name that would fit her personality. It’s just a perfect match, so I’m hoping that the same thing happens with Jaxon.

Man, it feels weird to type that instead of Ziggy. You’ll forgive me if I go all pregnant-mommie-to-be-brain on you every once in a while and accidentally still refer to him as Ziggy!

As far as the second announcement goes, we have successfully agreed and selected ONE bedding set for Jaxon’s room! Yep, I said it. I know that I was slightly obsessed with this topic a few weeks ago, so forgive me, please. After looking at our options a few times (try 100,347 to be exact) and making a decision, last night we finalized it all. And then today I sealed the deal and sent the website link to my step-mother who is purchasing the set for us. So it’s a done deal.

Allow me to show you my new nursery décor…

Well, that’s not my nursery…that’s the stock photo from here…but you get the drift.

Are you shocked? I know YOU are Mom! Pick up your chin and shut your mouth – you’re lettin’ flies in! (Isn’t that what you always told me growing up?)

I know what you’re thinking…“But Sandy, you told us that Brent didn’t want anything to do with a nursery set that included animals in it.” And you would be right. He didn’t want animals. But after going back and forth with the other two or three choices that we’d narrowed it down to, and looking at them side by side…he could clearly see that I was right. This was probably my favorite set all along…but the animals in it threw it out of the running almost immediately after I showed it to him.

But pointing out the tones of the colors, the different patterns involved, instead of just monochromatic solid colors…all of that sort of sold him on the idea. And he’s come around to embracing the monkey inside of himself…we all have one! It might have also helped that the animals are minimal, and limited to only three in number, and not too “cartoony” looking. (Yes, that’s a word)

So what do you think? Cute name and cute bedding choice? I think so. I can’t wait to start getting all of the items together and seeing it in our house…mentioning which, I guess that means that I had better get to work on the nursery, huh? Details, details…

A Cause for Celebration!

Well...for those of you who have been reading for a while, I have some GREAT news to share with you all...B found a job!!!!

In this tough economy it took a bit longer than either one of us thought that it would, but after almost 8 months of being out of work, he started his new job this week. I’m not sure what all it’s ok for me to share about this...since I didn’t clear any of this with him before writing this up, I guess that I’ll stay a little on the vague side.

He got hired on with a regional grocery company as part of their Loss Prevention team, which is right up his alley – for someone of his background and training with the Marine Core. His attention to detail got noticed during the interviews that he had to go through to get the job and it’s already getting him mentioned throughout the store...and he’s only worked two shifts! It’s great to see him find a good fit for a job...so many of the interviews and searches that he was doing just didn’t seem to be jobs that he would enjoy doing.

And he wasn’t all that thrilled about this job either to begin with. But really, I think what bothered him the most was the idea of having to start over at the bottom. He had started at the bottom at the company where we both work and worked his way up to Operations Manager, which at the time was just a fancy title for assistant branch manager. Then he got laid off...and no one was hiring. At least not for middle management – it’s always the first level to be cut when the economy gets bad.

But after working just two shifts with his direct supervisor, they are already talking to him about supervising some of the other employees within his department and enrolling him in the management-training program as soon as possible. So things are looking up for him...plus, as a bonus, I get to hear ALL kinds of stories from his day! It turns out that Loss Prevention encompasses so much more than just watching the customers...and they are CRAZY! I’ll have to check and make sure that it’s ok for me to share some of those stories before I do it...hopefully he won’t care, because there are already some good ones!

I’m just thrilled that he’s found something that he has an interest in and will enjoy doing. Our prayers have been answered, and I want to say a big “THANKS” to all of you who have kept us in your thoughts and prayers...sometimes it takes a little while to get the answer that you think that you want, but it all works out in the end!

Well, maybe there's something to all of those "tests" after all...IT'S A BOY!!!

Some Big News...

So, I’ve been kind of quiet this past week or two. Have you noticed? I don’t mean to neglect you all, but there has been a LOT going on...and I was waiting for my pictures to get here because I’d kind of run out of things to say.

Well, if you know me, you know that’s not true! I always have something to say...but in this case, I think that a picture will say it better:
What’s that? A pee stick? With a positive sign on it? Yep! We’re pregnant!!! We couldn’t be happier, and I’m feeling really good so far, even though it’s early still. I’ve known for about two weeks now, and even though I’ve really wanted to keep this one under wraps a little longer, it seems like everyone knows – which means that I can FINALLY share it with you!

To answer some questions that you might be thinking:
#1 – Yes, we were trying.
#2 – Yes, so soon after the wedding! B actually tried to talk me into trying BEFORE the wedding, but I put my foot down on that one. So instead, he went around telling all of our friends and family that he was going to get me pregnant on the honeymoon...turns out he did!
#3 – I’m officially 6 weeks along, so even if I would have rather waited to share until closer to that 12 week mark when you’re past the more dangerous zone of pregnancy, it just wasn’t in the cards for us to keep this one quiet.

We. Are. Thrilled. There’s just no other way to say it. Over the moon with joy might also work, but it’s a close second.

So, with that being said, let me introduce you to my new blog, A Mother...Again. I’ll be writing all baby-related posts on my new blog, so stop on by and check it out. I’ll follow the same format there as I did being a bride here – the changes that I’m going through, my thoughts and fears, decorating the nursery, and all the other stuff that goes along with a lovely little package of love. And yes, I’ll be doing the belly shots as I progress...just in case you’re wondering!

Since this is a new blog for me, please be patient as I get it all set up the way that I'd like...plus, I'm sleeping a LOT...which is to be expected, but it may take me longer than I'd like. Just a word of warning!
